June 26, 2026: Wheels & Rails Open House | Meetup

Register for the Wheels & Rails Open House Meetup on Friday, June 26th!

This event is open to the public, but to attend as part of our Club, registration is required.

This is a rare opportunity to visit this fantastic train museum for FREE (!) and in the early evening hours with golden light (the museum normally closes at 5:00). In addition to the 90+ items of rolling stock including historic Pullman cars, classic diesel & steam locomotives, freight cars, and way cars, there will be a Top 20 car show with all makes, models and years of automobiles.

There will be rides on the park train, and the museum will be open to view the extensive collection of train artifacts. The museum is recognized by the State of Georgia to be Georgia’s Official Transportation History Museum, citing the broad array of transportation history that the museum preserves, exhibits, and interprets. There will also be Cassie’s Catering and DJ Rockin’ Wheelz for a fun party atmosphere.

Everything is close, so you won’t need a long lens. A mid-range zoom from 24-105mm and a wide angle zoom from 16-35mm are recommended. If you like detail shots, you could bring a macro lens. If you want to cover all your bases, you could bring a 70-200mm. Tripods and flash are allowed as long as they don’t block doorways or interfere with visitor traffic.

Photos taken at the museum must be for private use only and not for commercial use (that is, you can’t make money with the photos you take there) without prior written approval and pre-payment of a photography fee.

This should be a fun event with lots of opportunities to practice your photography skills. We hope you will join us!
