Our November Speaker is Olga Rivera and the topic will be “Seeing in Layers: Multiple Exposure Photography!”

Multiple exposure photography gives us a way to experiment beyond the traditional single-frame photograph. By layering images together, we can create unexpected relationships, movement, texture, and emotion, often discovering something we could not have imagined when taking the first photograph.

This presentation will take a practical and creative approach to multiple exposure photography. You will learn how this technique can be explored with the camera, while discovering ways to experiment with flowers, landscapes, architecture, and everyday subjects.

In this presentation, Olga will share her personal journey into multiple exposure photography, the techniques she has been exploring, and the lessons she has learned through experimentation. Whether you're completely new to multiple exposures or already enjoy creating them, you will discover new ideas for seeing and photographing the world in a different way.

During Olga's presentation, you will learn:

  • what multiple exposure photography is and how the technique works

  • explore a brief history of multiple exposure photography and discover some of the artists who have used it

  • learn different approaches and techniques for creating multiple exposure images

  • see examples of how experimentation can transform ordinary subjects into more abstract and expressive photographs

  • get inspiration and ideas for incorporating multiple exposure photography into your own creative practice

Olga Rivera began her photography journey at age 19 and has continued to develop her practice through classes, workshops, and exhibitions, including her first solo exhibition at 22. Her experience includes studio photography, darkroom work, and experimental processes such as painting on negatives.

Over time, photography evolved from a profession into a personal form of creative expression. Today, Olga continues to explore new techniques and approaches, with a particular interest in vintage lenses, Lensbaby optics, and multiple exposure photography. Experimentation and continuous learning remain central to her practice.
