Join us for the September Technical webinar on September 22, 2026 at 6:30 pm on Zoom. PhotoPills is a powerful app for smartphones (Android and iOS) to plan and pre-visualize photographs of nature, skies, and cityscapes.
Planning includes exploring both the best time and location for events such as sunrise/sets and moon rises, star trails, the Milky Way, eclipses, and others. The app also helps you select a field of view and a fitting lens (wide-angle vs. telephoto), among others.

About Ümit Yuksel:
A protein chemist by training, Ümit has worked as a research scientist both in academia and industry. He authored 24 research and 14 review articles in peer-reviewed publications, and he has 11 US Patents. Umit is currently semi-retired, and enjoying his hobbies.
As a self-taught photographer, he enjoys the photographic process as much as the end result. Photographic interests are nature-at-large: from macro to astro and all creatures in-between.
He is a long-time, active member of the Cobb Photographic Society, where he held various leadership positions including presidency, and a GNPA member since its founding and is currently the organization’s Vice President.
He has led workshops in astrophotography, macrophotography, and color management. He regularly participates in group exhibits with CPS, and other photographic organizations.
